Leisure in Oberstdorf-Rubi

The Allgäu – Green valleys & rocky peaks

Oberstdorf is the most southerly municipality in Germany and the gate to the mountains. From here, you can reach the most striking peaks in the Upper Allgäu and the adjoining Kleinwalsertal valley within a few hours. Hike up to the idyllic little mountain lakes. Enjoy the glorious panoramic views or visit the quaint little villages in the surrounding valleys. Also, the lively town of Oberstdorf has plenty of entertainment and culture to offer.

Winter holidays

Snow-covered peaks and forests

The Oberstdorf ski regions such as the Nebelhorn and the Fellhorn attract visitors from near and far to their pistes. Those in the know take to the slopes in the early morning and enjoy the temperature inversion before the sun breaks through the cloud. Thanks to our extensive network of mountain cable-car railways, it's easy and relatively effortless to get up the mountains. After you've had a good workout, it's time to swing into the bar at the peak or have a delicious meal with us here in the Almenhof.

Summer holidays

Your soul can breathe and your body gets into shape

All around Oberstdorf, the Upper Allgäu is a very sporty region. Hiking, climbing and mountain biking are the most popular sports here, as are paragliding, canoeing and canyoning. Thanks to the variety of the landscape, there is hardly a sport that cannot be practised here. Especially when the Alps in summer shine in green and gold in the sun, there can hardly be a more beautiful place in the world. The gentle chiming of cow bells on the meadows indicates the way up. The peaks are decorated with a little white point; this is the best time in the Allgäu.

Oberstdorf

historic village structure

Ever since the early 20th century, Oberstdorf has been the centre of ski sports in Upper Allgäu. The appearance of Oberstdorf is however still influenced today by the historic village structure of the past centuries. Between the newer houses, you can still find many quaint farms and cosy inns. Strolling through the streets, you will discover many charming buildings, little shops and souvenirs of the history of the town. Along with sports, tradition and culture are important. But Oberstdorf always has a lot to offer young people as well.
